$25M to help Nebraska grow robotics enhancement, entrepreneurship, outreach

LINCOLN, Neb. (KSNB) – The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is using a direct purpose in a $25 million federal award that will push the boundaries of robotics innovation and serve as an economic driver for the Cornhusker State.

The award is element of a $1 billion Build Back Much better Regional Problem program declared Sept. 2 by the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Nebraska’s $25 million award will build a Heartland Robotics Cluster. The university’s $14.8 million portion of the award incorporates $9.3 million to create out robotics-relevant research and teaching areas in Kiewit Corridor, Scott Engineering Centre and Splinter Labs.

Additional allocations will utilize means at Nebraska Innovation Studio and The Blend, each located at Nebraska Innovation Campus. And, the Nebraska Production Extension Partnership, part of the university’s Institute of Agriculture and Pure Assets, will use $1.4 million to establish an automation demonstration room and application for Nebraska manufacturers.

The proposal was produced and led by Devote Nebraska Company, a state-level enterprise progress corporation led by Dan Hoffman. Other job companions contain Northeast Group Higher education and Metro Community School — the two of which will increase robotics instruction for students.
